For venues

Show every diner what to expect.

Your venue may already be listed. Claiming it is free, and it means the first thing people read about you is accurate.

Why it's worth ten minutes

About 453,000 Australians are blind or have low vision, 1.8 million can't manage stairs without a handrail, and 935,000 with disability use a hearing aid. They plan a meal out more carefully than anyone else in the room: whether there's a step at the door, whether they'll be able to read the menu or hear the person across the table, whether their assistance dog will be turned away.

They look you up first. When your page answers those questions, you're the easy choice, and so is the table of six they're bringing.

Found by what people need

People can save the features that matter to them, and every search result tells them how many of those you have confirmed. They can also show only the venues that have all of them. The venues that make that cut are the ones whose features visitors have confirmed.

What you can do once you've claimed it

  • Your logo and a banner photo

Your own photo across the top of your page and on your card in search results, with your logo beside your name.

  • The access features you have

Tick what you've got: step-free entry, a large-print menu, a hearing loop. It shows as stated by the venue until a visitor confirms it, then as confirmed.

  • Opening hours, phone and website

Your hours power the Open now filter in search, and your number is one tap away for anyone who wants to ring ahead.

  • Reply to reviews

One public reply under each review, marked as from you. Thank people, say what you've fixed, or explain. The reviewer is told you replied.

  • A description in your own words

A short paragraph about your place, shown on your page and labelled as from the business.

  • A badge for your website

A live badge showing what visitors have confirmed about you, to put on your own site. It's free for any listed venue, claimed or not.

What stays independent

Reviews, star ratings and the features visitors have confirmed belong to the people who wrote them. Claiming a listing doesn't let you edit or remove them, and nothing is for sale. That's exactly why readers trust what they see about you.

If something has changed, reply to the review and say so, or tick the feature you now have. The next visitor who confirms it updates the page. If a review breaks our rules, tell us and we'll look at it.

How to claim your listing

  1. Find your venue

Search for it. If it isn't listed yet, add it; it takes a couple of minutes.

  2. Press Claim this listing

It's on your venue's page, near the bottom. You'll create a free account if you don't have one.

  3. Tell us who you are

Your name, your role and how to reach you. A person checks every claim. Once it's approved, a Manage link appears on your venue's page.

  4. Set up your page

Use the Manage link on your page. Everything listed above is there.

There's no fee, no contract and nothing to install.

Easy wins that cost next to nothing

Most venues that are hard to use aren't unwelcoming; nobody has told them. These are the things visitors mention most.

  • Keep a large-print copy of the menu at the counter, and say so when people come in.
  • Put your menu on your website as real text, not a photo or a scanned PDF.
  • Brief every staff member that assistance dogs are welcome everywhere customers can go. It's the law.
  • Offer to read the menu or describe the specials. Most people won't ask.
  • Keep the accessible toilet clear of highchairs, mops and stock.
  • Check your lighting at night. Too dark is a bigger problem than most venues realise.
  • Keep a quieter table or a quieter time, and tell people when it is.
  • Keep the path from the door to the tables and the toilet clear, and wide enough for a wheelchair.

If your staff are new to it, our guide to guiding is a five-minute read.
